<p>The perforated bottom on which material to be malted rests and is aerated, forms one wall of a pivoting malting box of triangular cross-section, the other two walls of which run together to form a funner-shaped gully. At the point of the funnel-shaped gully there is an outlet which can be closed and in which there is a conveyor. The perforated bottom and the two side walls are of the same size, and the triangular chamber is enclosed in a housing having a hexagonal cross-section, with the spaces between the side walls of the triangle and those of the hexagon used for auxiliary equipment. Provides a box germinating drum in which the loading and unloading operations are simplified, and for which no complicated cleaning operations are necessary. The steeping of the germinated malt is carried out in a much simpler fashion and all the advantages of the box germinating drum are retained.</p> |
