A device for optimising the fuel consumption of a vehicle engine over a given travelling distance has a display showing the vehicle driver the relative fuel consumption, i.e. w.r.t. the consumption for a defined route. The driver can adjust his vehicle speed to minimise consumption compatible with the driving conditions. A throughput meter (D) in the fuel feed to the engine produce an output voltage proportional to consumption which is connected to a series circuit contg. a resistor (R) varying linearly with vehicle speed and a current indicator. Alternatively, a sensing resistor (Rv) with a voltage indicator (Uv) connected across it may be used. In this case a nonlinear amplifier (A) may be connected between sensing resistor and voltmeter to amplify large signals more than small ones.
|
