The device is for dewatering material with a high water content such as peat, activated sludge, etc. It comprises two driven, endless belts which run between an inlet opening for the material to be de-watered and a delivery end to express the water from the material via common pressure rollers. There are also water-delivering mechanisms in the form of normally closed slots which are opened on passing a roller to dispense the water.
