<p>Trimming braid is provided with an adhesive ribbon or band in a continuous process where the braid is taken from its bobbin and pressed together with an adhesive ribbon delivered from the bobbin. They pass under a finger whose edge compresses them so that the adhesive surface of the ribbon is disposed on the rear face of the braid. The process is carried out to produce cheaply and quickly a braid with adhesive already applied to one side, ready for mounting by adhesion on to a fabric edging as required. Previously known processes have been time-consuming and expensive, and have tended to flatten the patterning of the braid, often with poor transfer of the adhesive.</p> |
