<p>A method of improving the flame retardant characteristics of substrates by applying thereto an organobromosilicone fluid of the general formula(BrCH2)3CCH2O(R2SiO)xCH2C(CH2Br)3 wherein each R is a radical containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon radicals, fluorinated hydrocarbon radicals, chlorinated hydrocarbon radicals and cyanohydrocarbon radicals, and x has a value from 1 to 10, is disclosed. When applied to cellulosic substrates, these compositions impart fire retardancy to the substrates.</p> |
