PURPOSE:To incinerate waste gases while restricting generation of NOx by specifying constitution of an incinerator and combustion conditions. CONSTITUTION:A swirl-type revolution-symmetric primary combustion chamber 7 fitted with a burner 2 is connected in series with a revolution-symmetric secondary combustion chamber 11 through a throat portion 12 fitted with cooling-water nozzles 10. Waste liquid or waste gas containing nitrogen compounds, together with an auxiliary fuel as required, is burnt at a temperature above 1200 deg.C while regulating the total amount of combustion air (from a pipe 4) and air (from a pipe 6) for protecting a waste-liquid nozzle 8 in such a manner that the secondary combustion gas after combustion of the auxiliary fuel and the whole waste contains less than 5% of oxygen. At the throat portion 12, cooling water from the nozzles 10 is mixed with the waste liquid from the nozzle 8 to rapidly cool the waste liquid. Then combustion is conducted in the chamber 11 at a combustion temperature of 850- 1150 deg.C, under such condition that residual oxygen concentration is below 5%, preferably below 3%. |
