<p>There is disclosed a security hinge construction comprising first and second hinge leaves adapted for attachment to a door or a door frame, or the like. Each leaf includes at least one hinge knuckle which knuckles are juxtaposed in the assembled condition. Means are provided for maintaining said hinge leaves in an assembled condition, and an electrical component is carried within one of said knuckles. Operating means are carried within the other of said knuckles. Actustor means operatively engages with said circuit component, while being free to move axially to produce a change in the condition of said circuit component, and cam means are provided for producing said axial movement of said actuator upon relative movement of said hinge leaves, as would be occasioned upon the opening or closing of a door. The circuit component, operating means and actuator means are entirely housed within said juxtaposed knuckles and thus are concealed from view when said hinge is in the assembled condition. The operating means includes a member mounted within the other of said knuckles for relative rotative movement, such that its position will determine at which point in the movement of said leaves, the condition of said circuit component will be changed. Means are provided for adjustably fixing the position of the operating means member.</p> |
