<p>The engine consists of units each comprising a cam (9) which drives a spring loaded follower (2). The follower is attached to a piston (1) with a concave crown. The sides of the piston are sealed with bellows (7) and the space enclosed by the piston and bellows is vented to the cam chamber through vent holes (5). The vessel may be steered by unloading the pistons on one side of the hull, by maintaining the return spring compressed and isolating the drive from the cam.</p> |
