<p>The flat strip cable consists of two or more individually insulated cables laid side-by-side for general use including vehicle and computer wiring. The mfg. method obviates the need for simultaneous extrusion of wires and removes the possibility of damage if separate wires are welded along their length. The wires making up the cable are fed from individual spools (21-25) to a grooved roller (30) setting their spacing. The cable-form is then pressed into contact with a thermoplastic, elastomer or textile ribbon (16) between a pair of rollers (31,32). The wiring and ribbon are integrated by then pouring over them a special composition (35) from a heated reservoir (34) at a temp. of about 200 deg. C. The strip speed is up to 200 m/min.</p> |
