The loop connector is for connecting a main conductor to a branch conductor and comprises a solid body (2) having a hooked portion (3) against which the main conductor is clamped by a jaw (4). The jaw has an annular portion (5) through which a clamping rod (6) projects, one end of the rod screwing into a screw-threaded bore in the body and the other end formed as a ring handle (8). The auxiliary conductor may be clamped to the connector head. The rod has an annular flange (9) which bears against the jaw and the rod screws into the body. The annular portion has two lateral lugs (11) which slide in axial grooves (12) in a prolongation of the body to guide the jaw towards the hooked portion. The jaw also has a stop projection (14) which overlies the rod flange to limit relative axial movement of the jaw and rod. Play between the rod and annular portion is sufficient to avoid the rod being acted on by twisting moments applied to the jaw by the conductor.
