<p>A plant for solid-liquid sepn., comprises a filter with granular material, in the shape of a prism or a truncated pyramid, allowing the filtration process to be carried out at a decreasing speed according to gradients which heights of granular filtration material from 0.3-2.00m give, with the walls of the filter inclined at 40-65 degrees to the horizontal. The shape also allows the combination with the filter of a plate decanter by juxtaposition on two of the filter's sloping sides. The plates of the decanter are inclined at an angle equal to that of the walls of the filter. The plant is partic. applicable to the treatment of raw waters, whether or not conditioned by chemical agents, to produce drinking water or water for industrial use, and in the treatment of waste waters with a view to their re-use or their improvement before rejection. It allows prodn. of water of a quality identical with that from a plant designed in the current standard manner but it requires about half the ground area and space occupied by the decanters and filters equipping such standard installations.</p> |
