The DC -- AC converter provides a stable output over a wide range of load values and during changes in load during its operation. The converter has an asymmetric smoothing inductance in the return path to the dc source which opposes any rapid change in current in the supply to the oscillator but allows current reversal due to energy feedback effects back to the source. The oscillator has the basic centre-tapped transformer with the load (1) in the secondary with a series LC elements across the primary. Oscillator switching is by two thyristors (4) each shunted by a return path diode (2). The smoothing inductance (5) is made asymmetrically by parallel or series diode or switched semiconductor (6), the diode also preventing voltage run-away and subsequent thyriste damage.
|
