The roller is used for holding paper under pressure in an office machine, and is fitted on a support shaft by a bearing shell. Both shell and roller are joined together axially and the shell constitutes a deformable socket, slotted in its lengthways direction. The roller has a through cylindrical bearing hole. The bearing shell has at its two face ends radially projecting fitments extending over only a part area of the periphery.
