The paper cover, particularly an envelope, includes a thin tear string. This string extends inside the fold of the closure flap from one side to the other. The string may run from one gum-free corner portion (4a) of the flap over a short distance at right angles towards the fold, the along and inside the fold to the other gun-free corner portion where it again runs downwards at right angles over a short distance. The remainder of the flap is pref., gummed for permanent closure in the usual manner.
