<p>The machine contains a set of >=3 long parallel bending rolls, which extend over the entire length of the metal sheet being bent; and some of the rolls are driven. The pref. machine uses one long, solid bending roll forced downwards by pairs of rollers located on a row of supports, which can be adjusted vertically. Roll is located above a pair of hollow rolls, each end of which is driven by a set of gears rotated via a common drive shaft. Each end of roll pref. extends through the side pillars of the machine and is located in a bearing block mounted on the bottom end of a vertical spindle, which is rotated in an upper traverse to adjust roll vertically. Used esp. for ensuring that a uniform bending stress is applied to the sheet metal without local stress concn. which could damage plastic coatings on the sheets.</p> |
