<p>A composition for treating oily hair or skin to reduce the oily appearance thereof comprises in an appropriate vehicle an active compound having the formula, <IMAGE> wherein n is a whole number from 1-10 inclusive, p is 0, 1 or 2, and R1 is <IMAGE> (i) <IMAGE> (ii) wherein R2 is <IMAGE> or -CO2H wherein R3 and R4 represent hydrogen, 2-hydroxy ethyl, 2-hydroxy propyl or 2,3-dihydroxy propyl; (iii) -(CH2-CHR5) OH wherein R5 is hydrogen, methyl or hydroxy methyl; <IMAGE> (iv) wherein R3 and R4 have the meanings given above; or (v) <IMAGE> wherein q is 1 or 2 and A represents hydrogen, acyl, succinoyl, nictinoyl or thenoyl; with the proviso that p is other than 0 and n is other than 2-4 when R1 is (iv) or (v).</p> |
