The present invention concerns a sturdy measuring device with high precision for determination of position, measuring of thickness, determination of the geometry in particular for moving machine parts, and it consists of a frame with end pieces, between which in a familiar fashion magnetised wire is stretched, being encircled by a sliding body which has recessed detection elements at one front end for generating of pulses as the sliding body moves along the wire, which pulses are taken to a pulse counter.
