PROCESS FOR EXCHANGE OF HYDROGEN ISOTOPES USING CATALYST PACKED ASSEMBLY

A process is described for the exchange of H isotopes by using a packed-bed catalyst. In the process, streams of liq. water and H are simultaneously brought into contact with each other and with a packed-bed catalyst, with both streams at 273-573oK.. One of the streams contains a H isotope in excess condn. over that existing when the streams of liq. water and H gas are in isotopic equil. under the prevailing process conditions a H isotope concn. which is lower than that existing when 2 streams are at equil. under process conditions.
