<p>The solar collector, comprises a housing (1) containing a number of cylindrical glass cells (40) in parallel rows, with a silvered coating on the lower half of each facing towards the back panel (4) of the collector housing. The cells (40) in each row are insulated from one another with a matt black metal tube (14) passing through the centre of each, through which the heat transfer fluid passes. The back panel (4) is translucent or transparent to permit passage of light from one face to the other of the housing, between the series of cells (40). The collector is attached at the top to a lintel (56) for incorporating it in a wall and also containing a storage tank (58) for the heated fluid into which the metal tubes (14) project the other end of each tube (14) communicates with a trough (60) for the cold fluid.</p> |
