Process is claimed for widening the gel range of gelling agents with delayed acid action in acid-coagulable latex foam compsns. which are intended to gel by heating prior to being compsns. which are intended to gel by heating prior to being dried. The process comprises adding to the latex compsn. a water-soluble ammonium or amine sulphamate in an amt. of >=0.5 pt. wt. sulphamate per 100 pts. wt. non formulated dry latex. The sulphamate is hydrolysable in water at high tem. but hydrolyses weakly or not at all in water at room temp. The ammonium or amine gp. is derived from an amine (including NH3) whose b.pt. is -35 to +300 degrees C.
