Granular media filter includes a series of cells with each cell having a horizontal porous plate for supporting the filter media and being associated with influent supply above the cells and an effluent receiver below the cells. Improvement is that the cell system is fabricated of plastics material. The system comprises a number of components that may be made as integral units which include a part system for communicating the effluent received with an effluent channel, and an end cell panel. Cell sheets for dividing the filter into cells are also provided.
