The slipring-type seal is for the regenerative heat exchanger of a gas turbine, partic. automtive, having a sealing strip secured on one side to a metal pressure membrane fixed to the housing, and bearing against a ceramic heat exchanger disc on the other. The coating of the strip bearing against the disc consists, at least mainly, of hot-pressed zinc oxide (29). Reinforcing members can be pressed into the coating, typically of textile material, wire mesh, or metal mesh of nickel etc.
