The mechanism indexes items, particularly workpieces, having transporter beams either side of a guide track and moved by levers coupled together. Two or more swing arms (2, 3) are attached to each beam (1), and coupled at the other ends to cranks (4, 5). The latter are coupled together so as to keep them strictly in phase, and are driven by a power unit (6), which also drives a further crank mechanism (7) coupled to one of the arms.
