PURPOSE:To obtain an argentic oxide battery with a high one-stage discharge characteristic by constructing an annular pedestal of porous metal and providing a reduced film of argentous oxide over the contacting surface of a positive pole made by shaping positive pole agent of active materials of argentic oxide with the pedestal and a positive pole can. CONSTITUTION:An annular pedestal 1 with an L-shaped section and the like is shaped by porous metal such as spongy or foamed metal, and a positive pole 4 made by press-shaping active materials 2 of argentic oxide is put into a positive pole can 6 for constructing an alkaline battery.
