NEW MATERIAL:A benzenediol derviative or its acid addition salt of formula I [A is p-phenylene, or pentamethylene; B is -(CH2)n- (n is an integer of 0-2), or or -CH=CH-; R1 is (substituted) lower alkyl, phenyl, cyclohexyl, pyridyl, furyl, thienyl, naphthyl or indolyl, excluding the case that A is p-phenylene, B is -(CH2)2 - and R1 is phenyl]. EXAMPLE:p-(p-Hydroxycynnamoyloxy)phenyl p-guanidinobenzoate. USE:Effective to inhibit the activity of proteinase, and useful as a remedy for pancreatic diseases of man and animal, an antiplasmic agent, and a preservative for fresh foods such as meat and fish. PROCESS:Reaction of a hydroxybenzoate of formula II with a carboxylic acid of formula III or its reactive derivative affords the objective compound I. |
