Multiple stream liquid applicator apparatus includes a conveyor for guiding strip material such as carpet past a liquid application station; and an array of multiple openings such as nozzles arranged above and transversely of the conveyor at or adjacent the application station. Multiple remote controllable valves 48 are selectively actuable by a programmable electronic control to cause respective streams of liquid to issue from the nozzles onto the strip in accordance with a predetermined pattern of application of the liquid to the strip. Each of the remote controllable valves 48 is a solenoid actuated valve which includes a magnetically sensitive plunger 88 and an abutment 110, 133 limiting movement of the plunger 88 away from the valve closed position. Means 132, 138 is provided to adjust the clearance between the plunger of each valve and the abutment whereby to permit standardization of valve operation. <IMAGE> |
