Detector sensing marker on label bonded to tape cassette - uses photoelectric device and initiates connection of noise suppression circuit

The detector reads markers describing recording or tape positions. The marker may be a label attached to the cassette with a part that is optically machine readable. The label is bonded to the cassette and automatically causes a noise suppression system to be switched in. The machine readable part (6) of the label (3) consists of two parts of different reflectance. A light source in the tape recorder illuminates the readable part and light reflected from it is detected by a photoelectric device whose output initiates various switching processes inside the recorder.
