<p>A mechanical cutter to divide large round bread loaves into two is housed in a casing in which a horizontal shaft, driven by a gear motor and carrying a cutter blade, is accommodated in one section. The blade has the contour of an Archmedian spiral, with a radius of curvature increasing with increasing distance from the shaft. A partition with a slot for the blade divides off a second section with a door through which the bread loaf is introduced. A microswitch cuts off the motor when the door is open. A light barrier stops the knife blade away from the bread department after one revolution through 360 degrees. Such a machine has a higher capacity than a breadsaw.</p> |
