<p>METALLIZED WOVEN FABRIC This invention relates to the field of fabrics woven at least partially from metal wire and including areas of double layer fabric. Tubular metal fabric is well-known in the art, but since the conventional fabric consists of a single tube formed of the entire double layer width of the fabric, the size of the tube is limited to the width of the fabric and cannot be reduced without destroying the tube. It is often necessary to produce irregular shaped double layer fabric for use in filters and the like. This cannot be done easily with the single tubular fabric of the prior art. The present invention overcomes these defects by providing an improved woven fabric including metal wire in at least one of the warp and weft directions. The fabric includes alternating areas of double and single weaving forming alternating areas of double layer or combined single layer fabric. These areas alternate in at least one of the warp and weft directions.</p> |
