PURPOSE:To provide a double effect laser having high general efficiency by driving other laser using the light energy of discharge which is not used heretofore. CONSTITUTION:The ring 2 of a PSG1 becoming first laser incorporates mirrors 3, 4 at both ends to thus form a light resonator. The mirror 4 is rotated to operate a Q switch. The ring is closed at both ends, and CO2 gas 5 becoming second laser is injected into the ring. An AC current or high DC voltage is applied to the electrodes 6, 6' at both ends of the ring to discharge between the electrodes. This discharge accelerates the electrons in the CO2 gas in the ring to conduct a pumping and to thus generate negative temperature region. The light irradiated simultaneously upon discharge conducts a pumping by the light absorbed by the PSG1 around the ring. When the electrons of the two lasers are sufficiently transferred to upper laser level of satisfy the condition, the mirror 4 is rotated to thus irradiate giant pulses simultaneously from two lasers. |
