摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a miniaturized apparatus for determining a position coordinate on the basis of an accurately measured compass direction of the terrestrial magnetism, by using a combination of a magnetic field vector detector and an inclination detector for measuring the inclination of the magnetic field vector detector. CONSTITUTION:Information on the amplitude and phase of an output from a magnetic field vector detector 1 consisting of a rotary magnetic piece is factored into components X, Y in a vector component arithmetic circuit 2, and the components are input as digital values into a calculator 13. When an inclinometer is inclined, an analog signal in proportion to the sine of the angle of displacement is generated in an output terminal of an inclination detector 16. This signal is inputted into the calculator 13 through an A/D converter 12. Also, an output from a revolution detector 17 for detecting the number and direction of revolutions of a wheel shaft is intput into the calculator 13. The calculator 13 is adapted to determine a vector of a horizontal component of force of the terrestrial magnetism by utilizing the outputs sent thereto as mentioned above. A vector in a direction in which a moving object advances is calculated on the basis of the horizontal component of force of the terrestrial magnetism. A product obtained by multiplying the vector thus determined by a distance covered by the moving object is subjected to integration to accurately determine a position coordinate.
