The collapsible stool has four inclined legs, the side elevation presenting two legs (10, 11) diverging symmetrically from pinned joints (16) to a flat table top (12). An inclined stay (18) extends between pinned joints (22) to the foot of one leg and (20) to the top third point of the others, to allow the unit to be folded flat for storage. The two parallel legs at the front accommodate the steps (S), and a pivotable stirrup (30) may be brought to a locked overhead position to constitute a handrail. Two vice jaws (V) are mounted on the table top, and a side hung pivotable panel (50 on stub arms (54) may cover the jaws to provide a seat or step surface.
