<p>Filter element for a gas filter, for e.g. an automobile, formed of a box and a cover, comprises a perforated cylindrical cage and a cylindrical panel of foam with communicating cells surrounding the cage and placed between the cover and the bottom of the box. The panel has continuous grooves bringing its lateral faces nearer locally, the caved in part thus formed being more rigid and having no cells. The element includes a second cylindrical perforated cage surrounding directly the foam panel. The two cages have each a collar projecting in the direction of the opposite groove to hold the panel between the cages. The two collars are staggered axially so as to impress a baffle at the zone of the panel tightened between them. Improvement w.r.t. parent patent filter is that the foam panel is held better and any risk of retraction of joint-forming parts towards the filtering part is avoided.</p> |
