Heat screen for engine spark plugs - protects RF screening and plug lead insulation from exhaust manifold heat

The heat screen for engine sparking plugs provides protection against the radiated heat from the exhaust manifold for the insulation and r.f. screening of the plug. It is useful in a vehicle equipped with a radio transmitter/receiver. The screen is in two parts spaced (16) to allow air flow between them. The outer part consists of a metal plate (2) carrying a heat resisting mineral layer (5) preferably held by a metal grill (6). The inner part (3) has the same height as the outer and is spaced from it by rivetted feet (2e). A snap-on clip (4) secures the inner surface to the cable or cables (10) supplying the plugs such that the screens lie between the cable and the exhaust manifold or piping (14).
