The bayonet connector socket has a base (10) through which two cylindrical plunger contacts (11) project. The contacts are inserted from outside the base (10), their entry being limited by abutment of their terminal parts (12) against the base outer wall (26). Each contact (11) adjacent its contact end is formed with a peripheral recess (30) to provide a shoulder (21) against which one end of a coaxial spring (20) abuts. The other end of each spring (20) sits in an enlarged portion (23) of the piston contact bore (25) in the base (10) to bias the contact ends against, e.g., an inserted light bulb base. Each contact end is formed with a frusto-conical portion (22) tapering inwardly towards the end from the shoulder (21). Once the piston contacts are inserted, the springs are forced over their free ends into the enlarged bore portions (23), each spring having a spiral end portion to abut the connector shoulders (21).
|
