An installation for automatically disinfecting a wash basin, bath etc., by releasing a disinfectant liq. into the drain plug hole and into the top of the overflow hole, each time a water supply tap is opened. An actuator is fitted in the mains supply to the tap. The activator may comprise an ejector or diaphragm to apply mains pressure to a piston each time the tap is opened. The piston displaces a valve which releases disinfectant from a pressurised container. The container can be a renewable aerosol or cylinder. Disinfectant is delivered to plug hole and overflow hole.
