Safety device on child seat belt - has table-shaped catch element attached to diagonal strap running between anchorage points

The safety device for child seat belts is used as an additional element on three point anchorage seat belts. The device consists of a table-shaped element (2) fitted between an anchorage point (4) and a lock assembly (6) connected by an abdominal strap (5). From the deviating fitting (23) the strap returns to the table-shaped element (2) leaving it half way of its width at point (21) from where it connects via a deviating fitting (8) to the seat belt retractor (9). The diagonal strap (7) leaves the deviating point (21) at an angle towards the fitting (8). The strap is held down on the table shaped element (2) by a strap (17) enveloping the element around its entire circumference, so that any pulling force occuring on the strap following a deceleration is transferred against the front surface (22) of the catch element (2). The catch element is made of a foam material hereby acting as an impact-damping element.
