The appliance is designed for treating flat surfaces, esp. tennis courts, with a layer of sand. It has a roller driven by a motor to roll the sand to a smooth surface. There is a sand container (25), with a device (40) for measured, evenly distributed output of sand, extending virtually across the whole width of the roller (13). There may also be interchangeable auxiliary appliances (53, 54) comprising a grubber and/or stroking board. Work is simplified and accelerated.
