The machine has a semiconductor store holding data relating to the amount of money inserted and the score, for supplying them to a display. The store has a back-up battery (7) for maintaining its operating voltage for given period after interruption of the mains supply. The back-up battery has a voltage monitor (9), which switches the machine to inoperative at the end of play, when the battery voltage drops below a given level. This voltage monitor pref. has at least one test switch (10) parallel to it and the battery for checking the response to given voltage levels. The voltage monitor may be coupled via a logic element in a feedback loop for the logic circuit of the amusement machine.
