<p>An offshore platform can be lowered ready for operation on to a base structure which is designed so that its buoyancy thrust is greater than the weight of the platform together with all the equipment forming its working load. The base structure can be displaced axially inside at least one enclosing ring, which, in the working condition is surrounded by a foundation which can be flushed, and on which the full surface of the base structure rests. The base structure can be towed to a site beneath a stretch of water and set down on the bed by means of ballast. Provides an offshore island which can be easily and safely transported and positioned without special mechanical lifting mechanisms. The arrangement provides a large operating surface and ample storage space.</p> |
