The three dimensional component is used in building toys, and is folded together from a two-dimensional cardboard section which has pre-stamped fold lines and recesses (2, 3, 4, 5, 6a, 6b) to accommodate lugs (15) from adjacent building components. The section for a box-shaped component is rectangular, and in its centre has a floor surface (1). On the long sides of the base are fitted inner side wall flaps (9, 10) which for m outer side walls, and outer side wall flaps (13, 14) form inner side wall surfaces. Between side wall flaps is an intermediary strut (11, 12) and this carries the retention lugs.
