In a process for treating water using an active carbon powder, after adsorption, the carbon is sepd. by a filtrating sheet, which is disposed in a separator. A number of separators, each with a filtrating sheet, are arranged in parallel. A reverse flow of water is applied to one of the separators to remove the deposited carbon, and then is introduced into another separator. Specifically, 2 separators are connected through several valves in series and parallel to each other in accordance with the settings of the valves. When one particular valve is closed, the water passing through the first separator is fed into the second separator to produce a reverse flow to remove the deposited carbon on the latter separator.
