The steam superheater has a horizontal axis, and is preceded in the steam flow direction by a water separator. The steam superheater and the water separator are both accommodated in the same pressure drum or housing. The feed union (7) for the steam leads into a chamber (8) separate from the interior of the housing (1), and the water-separator surfaces form part of the connection between the two. These surfaces can be in the chamber walls, and the chamber can be at the opposite end of the housing to the superheater (2), or between two superheaters.
