<p>1302323 Power steering NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 12 May 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 14424/71 Heading B7H A vehicle has an hydraulic power steering system in which the vehicle's road speed is used to modulate the reaction pressure in the control valve to increase "feel" at higher speeds. The control valve 11 is incorporated in the steering linkwork and comprises a spool 28 having grooves 48, 49 which works in a valve body 15 to which is connected the steering pump P at bore 43 and the power steering ram at bores 50, 51. The "feel" at the steering-wheel is due to the pressure in the reaction chamber 12 acting on a spring seat 34 which is slidable inside spool 28 and which acts on the steering-wheel via rod 40. This pressure is increased when valve 60, operated by solenoid 62, the current through which is supplied by the vehicle speed sensor 14, is urged to the left to close orifice 56. In a modification the valve 60 may be fluid-operated by a vehicle speed responsive governor valve.</p> |
