PURPOSE:To provide a light weight display parts for watch having securely bonded and corrosion resistant plating layer by a method wherein Cr or other metal is underplated on the surface of watch needle of light metal, and is finished with plating with precious metal such as gold. CONSTITUTION:Light metal plate substrate such as Al or Al alloy is neatly finished by buffer polishing. This is punched by press to provide display parts such as second needle for watch. The surface is degreased and cleaned, then ion plating, vacuum deposition, or sputtering is used to form undercoating of metal, alloy, mixture, or compound containing at least one of Cr, Ti, W, Mo, Ta, Ni, V, and Co. On top of it, metalized finish plating containing at least one of Au, Ag, Pd, Pt, Rh, Ir, Ni, Cd, In, Sn, Al, Ti, Cr, and V is formed by use of sputtering, ion plating, and vacuum deposition, so that dry plating is performed for finishing. |
