This is a method for joining high-voltage cables by means of a prefabricated sleeve capable of withstanding a large elastic deformation. The method is characterised by the use of a tool, called a radial stretching device, which includes a hollow central part (21) and which consists of two semi-cylindrical segments (22) and (23) which can be juxtaposed so as to form the tube-shaped component (21). These segments include, at their ends, a separating device consisting of two bolts (30) and (31) mounted on two semi-circular segments (24) and (25). In order to slip the prefabricated sleeve over the radial stretching device, the central hollow part (21) is surmounted by an ogival component (33). In order to make the joint, the prefabricated sleeve is installed over the radial stretching device, the ogival component (33) is removed and the tubular central part (21) is slipped over one of the ends of the cables to be joined. After joining the conductors of the two cables, the prefabricated sleeve is installed and the radial stretching device is withdrawn, which leads to the retraction of the said sleeve and its gripping onto the ends of the cables to be joined. <IMAGE> |
