Rub down symbols are applied to paper with a sealed or impregnated surface and the ink contains a component to inhibit binding to the paper, as in the Parent Patent. The symbols are now printed image-wise on the carrier, can be 'rubbed down' on to a new carrier and removed from this carrier when necessary, using an adhesive film. No residue is left and the carriers are not damaged.
