Solubilisation of biologically active cpds. - by reaction with activated hydrophilic polyether

Process for increasing the water- and alcohol-solubility of biologically active substances (I) contg. >=1 active H atom comprises reacting (I) in 1:1 molar ratio with a product (II) obtained by reacting an OH-, NH- or NH2-mono-functional hydrophilic polyether (III) having an H2O-uptake capacity of >=15 wt.% with an organic cpd. (IV) contg. >=2 reactive gps. capable of reacting with active H. The equiv. ratio of (III) to (IV) is (m-1):m, where m is the no. of reactive gps. in (IV). The process can be used to solubilise a wide range of pharmaceuticals and pesticides. A specified cpd. (I) is the herbicide 4-amino-6-t-butyl-3-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one, which also has insecticidal activity after modification as above.
