The trolley (2) is intended for moving a heavy load (3, 4) with an axial bore (3b), such as a roll of sheet metal (4) wound on a core (3), without lifting it. The trolley moves the roll to a receiving station where a shaft is inserted in the central bore (3b) of the core. It is provided with rollers (10, 11) which support the axially projecting ends (3a) of the core at the required height. There may be two pairs of rollers arranged to either side of the roll (3, 4) on parallel axes. One pair of rollers (11) may be swivelable (12, 13) out of its support position.
