A multifilament bundle-for example a yarn or tow-includes a monofilament which forms a minor proportion by weight of the bundle and which has been rendered adhesive so that it adheres to the other filaments. The monofilament may be rendered adhesive by heat-for example by passage of the bundle through an electrically heated tube, or through a turbulent zone in a jet of steam or hot air between drawing and wind-up-, by heat and pressure, or by chemical treatment. The monofilament may be a polyester/polyurethane copolymer, nylon 6, or a copolymer of nylon 66 and nylon 6.10. The other filaments may be formed of nylon 66, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, or polyacrylonitrile. The bundle preferably has no twist. |
